There is absolutely no excuse why we should be driving on these cow path's that they call roads. We need to repair and widen roads such as Route 173 and Route 83 to relieve some of the gridlock that will only get worse with all the development coming to northern Lake County.

I have a good relationship with Representative Melissa Bean and State Senator Michael Bond, Vice Chair of the State Transportation Committee. I will work with both of them to get financing for a comprehensive roads program, and work to help streamline the process for getting road reconstruction approval at the State level.

This is an important issue to me. People in the first district like the rural atmosphere, but also want convenience. we need to monitor our development closely so that we don't spoil Antioch and the small town atmosphere that we all love so much. I am learning about building green so that we can have development with out ruining our Village.

The Chain of lakes is an important part of our economy and our culture. Hundreds of businesses around the Chain depend on Sportsmen and Women and boaters for their livelihood. The lakes are our heritage in Antioch and Fox lake and we have a responsibility to protect them and keep them clean. We need to monitor our lakes to measure the levels of bacteria to safeguard this resource.

I advocate educating County employees on conservation issues and I believe that the county could take steps to help our environment. I will work tirelessly to make energy conservation a top priority of the County government. With the new net metering bill just passed in Springfield, we can save money by being green. Public policy must be used to start the conversation. Now is the time to start getting to work on these issues, we can't afford to wait any longer.

After 40 years, in the trucking industry, truck Safety is another important issue to me. Federal and State truck safety laws need to be vigorously enforced, for the safety of our families. Over the past several years, too many people have been killed in truck/auto collisions along the Route 173 corridor. Several years ago, truck weight limits were raised to allow big trucks to carry up to 80,000 lbs and many trucks can get a permit to carry even more weight for a fee. This additional weight that trucks are now allowed to carry creates a situation on our roads that makes it imperative that trucks and truck drivers are in tip top shape.

This brings us back to the issue of roads. Our roads were not designed to handle the weights that todays trucks carry, the damage that these trucks do to our roads is tremendous and now many trucks are using back roads to get around state scales on Rt 41 and other places in the county. I believe that truck regulations and fees must be updated to reflect their use of our roads today. These trucks must be regulated to save our roads and to keep our families safe.

Northern Lake County desperately needs a hospital facility. After 22 years in this area, I personally have had the experience of needing to get my kids medical attention in an emergency. Since the trauma center on RT 59 in Lake Villa was closed, there is no trauma center any where close by.

Do Any of the people on the Illinois Health Facilities Board live in this area? What criteria do they use to determine what is suitable travel time from point "A" to point "B"? I can't think of any anybody that lives in Northern Lake County that agrees with the statement that there are hospitals within 30 minutes of Antioch. This board is the only one!

We need this Hospital and will work towards getting it for our community.
